About

Strategic advisory. Not motivational coaching.

James Ishola, strategic adviser and leadership partner
James Ishola
Strategic Adviser · Leadership Partner

Over two decades across leadership, technology, transformation, data, risk and organisational change.

I help leaders understand where they stand, recognise where value is moving and decide what to build next. No promises of outcomes I cannot control. Clear thinking, honest challenge, practical action.

That judgement is earned, not asserted. I have sat in the rooms where consequential calls are made — advising boards and senior leaders through reorganisations, technology and data transformations, and the risk decisions that decide whether a business rises or stalls. I have led teams through those same transitions myself, and rebuilt on firmer ground when what I had came apart. It is that combination — a practitioner who has carried the weight, not only studied it — that I bring to the table when the decision in front of you is expensive to get wrong.

A deliberately small practice — a handful of people at a time. Depth like this cannot be done at scale, and is not meant to be.

The Cohort · Small-group programme

The Cohort

A structured ten-week programme through your two hardest stages, worked live alongside a small group facing the same thing — with me leading.

£4,000 · ten-week programme

What it is

A small group, meeting fortnightly over ten weeks, working the method together in real time. You get my guidance and the discipline of a shared timetable — plus the honest scrutiny of peers who are in the same position and will not let you drift.

Who it is for

The person who has the clarity but not the momentum. You know roughly what you need to do; what is missing is structure, pace, and people to hold you to it. Also for those who do their best thinking alongside others.

How it works

  • Five fortnightly live sessions over ten weeks
  • A small group — never a crowd
  • Work set between sessions, reviewed openly
  • My guidance, shared across the group

What you walk away with

  • Real movement through your two hardest stages
  • A plan you have begun to act on
  • A small group of peers who know your situation

Honest note

The Cohort gives you my guidance, but shared — not private. If your situation is confidential, unusually complex, or demands undivided attention, one of the private engagements below will serve you better.

The Partnership · Private advisory

The Partnership

Six months as your private thinking partner through the full arc of a transition — across both the personal and organisational tracks. The deepest of the individual engagements.

£3,000/month · six-month engagement · by application

What the fee is for

Not hours, and not information. Four things you cannot buy off a shelf:

  • Judgement — a second mind on decisions that are expensive to get wrong, from someone who has made and watched these calls before.
  • Accountability — being walked through the doing, not handed a plan and left alone, which is exactly where most people falter.
  • Access — me in the room when it matters, between the scheduled sessions, at the moments that decide things.
  • Honesty — someone with no stake in flattering you, who will tell you the truth about your position when others will not.

What it is

The Partnership walks the whole journey with you — from the honest first look, through finding your footing and your opening, to building the next level and consolidating it. A steady monthly rhythm of private sessions, with access in between for the moments that matter, because the real work happens between the conversations, not only in them.

Who it is for

Someone facing a transition too consequential to navigate alone or settle in a single decision — a genuine change of level, direction, or circumstance — who wants a dedicated partner across the full arc, not just at the start.

How the six months run

Month 1

See where you stand

The honest audit. Where you stand, without the flattering or fearful story. Everything is built on this.

Month 2

Get steady enough to decide

Footing and clarity, so the next move comes from strength rather than fear or the comfort of standing still.

Month 3

Find your real opening

Where the value is moving, and what you already hold to claim it. "I want more" becomes a clear direction.

Month 4

Build it — part one

The direction becomes real moves. First action, with someone beside you as you make it.

Month 5

Build it — part two

Through the messy middle, where momentum fades and most people quietly stop when they are alone. You will not be.

Month 6

Become someone who keeps rising

Consolidate what is changed, set the next horizon, and close well — with the capacity to keep going without me.

What you walk away with

  • A transition navigated in full, not just begun
  • A consolidated position and a clear next horizon
  • The capacity to keep rising on your own
